Cumberland Bands Newsletter – 3/29/22

Hello wonderful band people!

It’s been a while, but it seems as if we’re finally getting back to a normal school year. There are a number of announcements, so please take the time to read everything.

SPRING CONCERT – TUES, APRIL 5 @7PM

All band class students, from 5th through 12th grades, will be performing in the spring concert on Tuesday, April 5th, at 7pm in the CMS/CHS cafetorium. Dress is step-up, so no jean items. Boys should have shirts with collars. No clothing with big logos, writing, etc. For our spring event, I don’t want to put any additional limits on dress, but it should have a sense of befitting a concert event.

EDIT: Students will stay after school on Tues, 4/5, to set up and prepare. We will feed them supper.

This is a required and graded performance event for all classroom students, 5th grade through 12th grade. Contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

PATRIOT DAY EVENT – SAT, APRIL 23

The 8th/HS band and the chorus will be participating in the Patriot Day event in the courthouse on Saturday, April 23rd. While the event itself goes from 12noon to 4pm, our performance time is at 2:30pm.

Dress for this event will be casual, but we should all try to wear blue and gold colors. Parents will transport their child to and from the event directly. There will be no additional transportation from the school system. The band room will be open earlier in the day for folks who may have forgotten to take their instrument home and to load the larger equipment into the box truck.

Specific details of this event will be provided on the Monday we return from spring break.

GRADUATION – FRI, MAY 13

The 8th/HS band will be playing at graduation this year. The students will stay after school that day to set up, get dressed, and eat. Details to follow.

MARCHING BAND SPRING MINI-CAMP

It’s time for marching band to start again!!! We will stay after school for all those interested in marching band on the days below. Practice will be until 6pm, and we will have access to the 6pm sports buses if you choose to use them. They are NOT door-to-door, but drop students off at designated stops along highway 45. Details on this will follow.

Students need athletic footwear of some sort and comfortable clothes to move in, as we’ll learn a bit about marching. Here is the schedule:

May 10, 11, 12
May 17, 18, 19

There will be two weeks of summer marching band, one on June 6th-9th during summer school, and one in late July (date TBA).
