Cumberland Bands Newsletter – 11/18/21

Hello amazing band folks!

I hope you’re as ready for the upcoming Thanksgiving break as I am. I am so thankful for the Cumberland band community and the wonderful children and families I get to work with every day.

Lots of detailed information about December events below, so read carefully! 🙂

BAND CONCERT ON DECEMBER 7th @ 7pm!!!

For ALL band classes we are having our Winter Concert on Tuesday, December 7th, at 7pm in the CMS/CHS cafetorium. This is a required performance for all students, 5th grade – 12th grade, who are in the band program.

This concert will be filled with lots of seasonal music, and will show off all the hard work that all the band students have put in to mastering their instruments.

EVERY BAND STUDENT will stay after school on Dec 7th for setup and rehearsal. I will be feeding them supper through the school system. The concert will start promptly at 7pm and will last about 30 minutes.

CONCERT DRESS for this event is as follows:

1. Students should dress fundamentally in black and white. The colors of green and red are also acceptable if they add to the festive nature of the event.
2. All boys should wear shirts with collars on them. No t-shirts or sweatshirts.
3. Girls may wear dress tops that don’t have collars as style dictates. No t-shirts or sweatshirts.
4. No jeans. The only exception I will make here is for truly black pants made of jean material.

The key here is common sense. Your child should dress a step above what they may normally wear to school, as this is a formal performance of the band program.

Every family should plan to have some representatives there to enjoy your child’s performance, as well as plan for transporting your child home, as the school system will not provide any transportation after the concert.

MARCHING BAND PARADES!!!

The marching band is performing in both the Farmville (Dec 5th) and Cumberland (Dec 12th) Christmas parades. These parades have historically been afternoon events. I will post detailed schedules for each day as soon as I can.
