Super All-District Congratulations!!!

We had two students audition for Virginia District 3 All-District High School Honor Band this past week (auditions are all virtual nowadays), and ended up with some amazing results!

For context, there are over 40 high schools in Va District 3, including Chesterfield County schools, Petersburg, Colonial Heights, and all the counties from I-95 to Appomattox, all the way down to the VA/NC state line. It’s a large portion of the state.

Auditioning on bassoon, Michael Ross earned 2nd chair in the entire district! He also earned eligibility to audition for the All-Virginia Honors Band at the end of February. We look forward to his audition and hope he becomes the first Cumberland student in memory to earn this statewide honor!

We also had Jack Williamson earn his way into the top district honor band on trumpet. For his audition, he earned 8th chair among all who tried. In this highly competitive pool of trumpet skill and talent, this is a high honor, indeed.

Congratulations to both of our musicians bringing high honors back home to Cumberland!
