Hello amazing band folks!

‘TIS THE SEASON TO GET CRAZY WITH LOTS OF BAND!!! There’s so much information here about the upcoming two months that I hope the page can hold it all. PULEEEZE read everything!!!

WE HAVE EIGHT DIFFERENT EVENTS ON THE CALENDAR in the next seven weeks. Get ready to read up on all the awesomeness that is Cumberland Bands! Here we go:

=== SATURDAY, OCTOBER 26
===POWHATAN FALL CLASSIC MARCHING BAND COMPETITION

There is the possibility of rainy weather this weekend. I’m going to provide a couple of options depending on what happens. It is possible that a final return time won’t be determined until Saturday, so please be flexible.

SAT, OCT 26, 2019 – POWHATAN HS
10:30am – Arrive at the CHS Band Room and get into uniform
11:00am – Depart for Powhatan HS
11:30am – arrive at PHS, unload
1:15pm – PERFORM
4:15pm – AWARDS for classes A, 2A, and 3A

IF THE WEATHER IS BAD, WE WILL DEPART FOR HOME AFTER AWARDS, AND ARRIVAL TIME WILL BE APPROXIMATELY 5:30PM

IF THE WEATHER IS GOOD AND WE DECIDE TO STAY FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE COMPETITION, ARRIVAL TIME WILL BE NEAR 11:00PM

Please bring food for your needs in transit, as we will not have a chance to get food until after our performance.

I will text out all details as we know them, including arrival times. Thank you for your flexibility and understanding in this regard.

===TUESDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2019
===HARVEST DINNER THEATRE

All performing students will stay after school on Tuesday, 10/29, and I will feed them a light supper. Any student wanting to eat the full buffet supper will need to purchase a ticket.

Tickets are ON SALE NOW!  This is a must-hear event!

The CHS Concert Band and will be performing a spooky old-time radio show.  This year’s event will feature a radio retelling of the timeless Washington Irving classic The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. You’ll hear other fun musical performances, as well.  A delicious buffet dinner is served by the CHS Culinary Arts department.

Join us in the CHS cafetorium for this fun audio experience.

Dinner is served at 6:pm
Performance begins at 7:pm
and lasts about 45 minutes.

Tickets are $10
$5 for children 6 and under who are eating.
We are prepared for your specialized dietary needs upon request.

===HOME FOOTBALL GAME

This will be the last time the marching band’s show is performed! It’s a regular game day for the marching band folks.

===FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2019
===FARMVILLE TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY

We’ve been invited to join with both the Prince Edward HS band and the Fuqua School band to play carols for the tree lighting. We’d be playing from around 5:30pm until just after 6:00pm. This would be for all concert band members in 7th – 12th grades. Details to follow.

===SUNDAY, DECEMBER 1, 2019
===FARMVILLE CHRISTMAS PARADE

Marching band! The parade starts at 2:00pm. We’ll tentatively meet at CHS around 12:30pm and will be home by around 4:00pm. I will confirm these details soon. THIS IS THE SUNDAY AFTER THANKSGIVING, so please plan accordingly.

===TUESDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2019
===CUMBERLAND BANDS/CHORUS WINTER CONCERT

This is for ALL classroom band students, 5th – 12th grade (and chorus students). They’ll stay after school, and I will feed them supper. The concert begins at 7:00pm in the CMS/CHS Cafetorium and will last about 45 minutes. Please plan for transportation home from the event, as this is a REQUIRED PERFORMANCE for all band class students.

===SANTA BREAKFAST FUNDRAISER

I’ll have more information on this shortly. The band program will have its annual Santa Breakfast on this morning at the CMS/CHS Cafetorium. We’ll need lots of help. Details will be to you next week.

===CUMBERLAND CHRISTMAS PARADE

Marching band! The parade starts at 2:00pm. We’ll meet at CHS around 1:00pm and will be done by around 3:30pm. I will confirm these details soon.
