Cumberland Bands Newsletter – 7/25/19

Hello Awesome Band People!!!

Our July marching band camp is for five days, July 29 – Aug 2!!!  It’s just a few days away.

We’re going to be learning the bulk of the show this week, so I’m very excited.

THINGS TO REMEMBER:

You must arrange your own transportation this time.  With nearly 50 marchers, someone lives near you.  Let me know if I can help.

The schedule is 9am – 6pm starting Monday, July 29, through Friday, August 2.

YOU WILL NEED TO PACK A GOOD LUNCH FOR YOURSELF EVERY DAY!!! We are planning to also have two additional snack breaks during the day.

Things you will need:

— Your instrument
— Wear comfortable athletic clothes and shoes – especially athletic shoes!!! (you will be marching)
— Have a hat, like a baseball cap.  You must wear headgear while outside.  Not an option (unless waived by director on individual basis).
— Sunscreen.  At least SPF 50.
— We recommend you bring your own water supply for convenience outside.  Water bottle, CamelBak, etc.  Water will be otherwise also be available.
— We recommend a towel.  Great for sitting in grass, putting down an instrument, covering up, wiping off, etc.  Generally useful.

SUPER IMPORTANT!  I need to collect at least 400 snack-type foods (granola bars, chips, etc) to provide everyone with a morning and afternoon calorie boost (they’re going to need it).  If you could donate something, please let me know asap!  We need donations. You all have been so generous in the past and we could use your help.

We are all-systems-go at this point.  I have many plans for this second week that include learning tons of performance content.

I’m super-excited, as I’ve also lined up all our staffing and programming needs.

BAND PARENTS:  This year, I’m going to need a whole new level of band booster help, so I hope many of you are willing to aid in participation occasionally as best you can.

Gonna be fun, folks!
