Cumberland Bands Newsletter – 1/28/19

UNBELIEVABLE!

I can’t thank enough all the folks who worked to make hosting the first Cumberland Winter Classic such an amazing success. I’ve done a LOT of hosting in my day, and WOW did everything go so amazingly well. EVERY SINGLE PERSON who put effort into this project should feel AMAZING for your contribution to the event.

== JAZZ BAND ==

Just a friendly reminder that unless otherwise announced, Jazz Band still meets every Tuesday after school from 3pm – 6pm. Good times!

==ALL-DISTRICT BAND==

The District 3 All-District Band event is this Friday and Saturday at Cosby HS in Midlothian. There is a concert starting at 3:30pm on Saturday, and four of our band students will be a part of the event.

==WINTER GUARD==

The first competition for the Winter Guard is Feb 9th at E C Glass HS in Lynchburg. More details to follow.

==CHAPERONING TRIPS==

If you want to chaperone any trips, there will be a new sign-up system coming in the next week. We’d love to have you, and just please plan to follow the directions to do so when they are published. 🙂

==DISTRICT CONCERT ASSESSMENT==

Concert band assessment — the “SOL test for band” — is at Powhatan HS this year. Both groups will be performing their assessment during the school day on the following schedule:

6th & 7th Grade – Thursday, Feb 28, at 1:00pm.
8th & HS – Friday, March 1, at 1:00pm.
