MARCHING BAND INTERACTIVE NEWSLETTER!!! – 6/19/18

Hello Amazing Band Folks!!!

WELCOME TO OUR FIRST INTERACTIVE NEWSLETTER!

It’s that time of year again (for the first time)! Next week we begin our first week of band camp (June 25-28, Mon – Thurs)!  Here are the details:

1. Everyone who turned in their sheets requesting transportation will be picked up at your home (or designated place) between 7:15-7:30am.  Give a little flexibility on this the first day, as we’ve never done it before so there could be a few bumps in the process.

2. We start at 8:00am.  There will be lunch served in the cafeteria at some point nearing noon.  You will all be ON YOUR BUSES by 1:00pm for your departure back home.

3. Things you will need:

— Your instrument
— Wear comfortable athletic clothes and shoes – especially athletic shoes!!! (you will be marching)
— Have a hat, like a baseball cap.  You must wear headgear while outside.  Not an option.
— Sunscreen.  At least SPF 50.
— We recommend you bring your own water supply for convenience outside.  Water bottle, CamelBak, etc.  Water will be otherwise also be available.
— We recommend a towel.  Great for sitting in grass, putting down an instrument, covering up, wiping off, etc.  Generally useful.

HERE’S THE INTERACTIVE PART (hint: you’ll reply to the Remind.com text message you received)!

If you want to know your bus number before Monday morning, text me (reply to the Remind text you were sent, or text my cell # below, both go to the same place).  Also, if you are unsure that I received your correct form, correct address, etc, text me.  I have FORTY-SIX of you (twice the size of last year), so you all feel free to be proactive and check with me to make sure you’re taken care of.  I’m happy to respond to all of you (do give me 24-hour turnaround, but I’ll try to do better than that).  Honestly, I’d love to get at least one text from everyone to make sure we’re all ready to go!

We are all-systems-go at this point.  I have many plans for this first week that include lots of fundamentals on how to march, play on the move, and exercises to make playing this year’s music easy.

I’m super-excited, as I’ve also lined up all our staffing and programming needs.

BAND PARENTS:  This year, I’m going to need a whole new level of band booster help, so I hope many of you are willing to aid in participation occasionally as best you can.

Gonna be fun, folks!
