Hello Awesome Band Folks!
What a great year! I hope you all take some time to enjoy your summer break. This newsletter will cover quite a bit about the 2018 marching band, as well as a few other bits of information.
== WELCOME MRS. KINNEY! ==
Mrs. Vickie Kinney will be joining us as a full time assistant for the next school year! She brings a wealth of skills and musical experience to the band program.
== 2018 MARCHING BAND ==
So many exciting new events going on with the 2018 marching band. This will be the first time since returning to the field that the marching band will be student-led.
Congratulations to Tanai Carter for being named drum major for the 2018 season.
…and check out how large we’ve gotten. We’re looking at around 50 students on the field this fall:
== 2018 MARCHING BAND SCHEDULE ==
PRACTICE SCHEDULE
June 25-28 – June camp, 8am-1pm. Transportation provided via summer school. Food is involved, as well. Details coming soon.
July 23-26 – July camp. Details TBA
August 9th and following – School starts Aug 8th. Marching band practices will start on Thurs, 8/9 and will be every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 3pm-6pm. On home game days, the marching band will stay through, be fed, suit up, and perform a the game.

Sat, Oct 27 – Powhatan Fall Classic Marching Band Competition (all day)
Dec 2 – Farmville Christmas Parade
