Cumberland Bands News – 2/27/18

Hey, awesome band folks!  Here are some quick updates:

== DISTRICT ASSESSMENT on MARCH 2ND ==

I AM IN DESPERATE NEED OF PARENT CHAPERONES FOR THIS EVENT!!!

ALSO, IF YOU HAVEN’T RETURNED YOUR SIGNED FORM FOR THIS TRIP, PLEASE DO IT ASAP!

Embroidered Cumberland Bands shirts have been donated to the band for spring performances.  Every child in band classes (incl 5th grade) will need a pair of khaki pants to wear with it.  6th-HS will need khakis before March 2nd.

Both the 6th Grade Band and the 7th/8th/HS Advanced Band will have their assessment performances on Friday, March 2nd at Goochland HS.  The 6th grade will perform around 3:25pm and the Advanced Band will perform around 5:00pm.  This is a required classroom assessment for all performing students.  Here is the schedule:

Friday, March 2, 2018
12:30pm – Depart for Goochland MS/HS
1:30pm – Arrive at Goochland MS/HS
3:20pm – Cumberland 6th Grade Band performs
4:32pm – Cumberland 7th/8th/HS Band performs <- TIME UPDATED 3/1/18
6:00pm – Depart for Cumberland
7:00pm – Arrive at Cumberland Band Room

Feel free to come see them perform, as entrance to the venue is free. If you come to the assessment performance and choose to take your child with you when you depart, please make sure I see you take your child with you when you go. If at all possible, let me know ahead of time that you are going to do this.

There will be concessions at this event, and students will have an opportunity to purchase food. Here are the concessions prices:

COMBO………$3 Includes: Slice of pizza, chips, and drink
PIZZA SLICE………$2 (Pepperoni or Cheese)
FULL PIZZA……..$12
DRINKS……$1
CHIPS/CANDY/POPCORN/SNACKS……$1
MILKSHAKES………$3 (Vanilla, Chocolate, or Strawberry)

== WINTER GUARD ==

Full-day practice at CMS on Saturday, March 3rd, from 10-4.  Bring your own lunch.

One scheduled competition is on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Atlee HS.  Details to come.

== SPRING CONCERTS ==

All band class students, 5th grade through HS, will have a graded spring concert performance. 5th and 6th grade will be on April 12th, and 7th-HS will be on April 17th.  Details forthcoming, but the schedules will be similar to the winter concerts.

== GRADUATION MAY 18, 2018 ==

All band class students from 7th grade, 8th grade, and HS will be playing for graduation on this date in a required performance.  Please plan accordingly.  Details to follow.
