Cumberland Bands News – 12/15/17

Happy Holidays awesome band folks!

We’re getting very close to a well-deserved break for everyone.  Here is a bit of what’s going on in the next few days:

=== Sunday, 12/17 – RESCHEDULED CUMBERLAND CHRISTMAS PARADE

1:00pm – Be at the Cumberland Band Room
2:00pm – parade begins
3:00pm(est.) – we finish parade
3:15pm – return to Cumberland Band Room

=== 12/19 – EVENING PERFORMANCE AT 4TH GRADE WINTER EVENT

The Advanced Band (7th/8th/HS), will play a short seasonal recruiting performance for the 4th grade students and families.  Tuesday, 12/19, the advanced band will stay after and we’ll go to CES for a quick 6:25 performance just prior to the 4th grade’s annual holiday musical.  I’ll feed them supper beforehand.  You can pick your child up from the band room by 7:00pm.

I originally noted additional daytime performances, but logistics did not work out in favor of doing so.  I also apparently had the correct dates in the prior newsletter but had mislabeled the days of the week. 🙂

=== WINTER GUARD BEGINS 1/3/18

Winter guard begins the day the students come back to school from 3pm-6pm.  Please have your child come get a permission slip/info sheet!

=== 1/6/18 – ALL-DISTRICT BAND AUDITIONS

The first Saturday after we return from break will be the VBODA District 3 All-District Band auditions.  Eighteen of the band members have signed up to audition at Thomas Dale HS on this day.  Details to follow, but we’ll be leaving EARLY, like around 6:15am or so, and we’ll return in the early afternoon.

I wish to thank all the active band boosters for making this fall an amazing experience.  We’ve grown such that this program cannot function without you!

I also want to again offer my highest thanks to Dr. Stephen Kerr and the folks at Liberty University for their very generous instrument donation to the Cumberland Bands program.  They provided a number of outstanding, quality instruments that will help us continue to grow.
