Cumberland Bands Newsletter – 10/11/17

Hello Awesome Band Folks!  TONS of good news!

=== 10/13 – TAILGATE PARTY / HOME VARSITY FOOTBALL GAME vs. BUCKINGHAM

On Friday, 10/13, Cumberland will host another varsity football home game, as well as the second outing for the marching band. The band is hosting another TAILGATE PARTY starting at 5 pm. Everyone is invited, and there will be live music, food, and fun.

The Cumberland Band Boosters is looking for the following donations from parents for tailgate cookouts:

WE NEED DONATIONS FOR THE FOLLOWING: Desserts, Drinks, and Chips!

We are planning to have tailgate parties for all the home games for the remainder of the season!

=== 10/14 – MARCHING BAND COMPETITION – BLUESTONE HS

The marching band will be headed out to Bluestone HS on Saturday.  Here’s the schedule, and details are below:

11:30am – Be at the Cumberland Band Room
12noon – Depart for Bluestone HS
2pm – Arrive at Bluestone HS
4:20pm – Cumberland Performs
7pm – Awards
7:30pm – Depart for Cumberland
9:30pm – Arrive at Cumberland Band Room

Please note the following:

  1. Please eat lunch or bring lunch food to have on the bus.  We will not have a chance to eat prior to performance.  After the performance, there are concessions on site for the students to purchase.  Please make sure your child has money enough to cover food needs at the event.
  2. Return times are my best estimate.  I will use the Remind.com service to narrow down when we will actually arrive home.  I do genuinely believe it will be around the listed time.
  3. We will have some unloading to do when we arrive back home, so please allow your child the additional few minutes to ensure the equipment and uniforms are all put away and that the band room is classroom-ready for Monday.  Our usual rule: nobody leaves until everybody leaves.

=== DINNER THEATRE TICKETS ARE NOW ON SALE

Starting Thursday, 10/12, tickets will be available from the band director and performing students for the 2017 Harvest Dinner Theatre.  They are $10 a person, and $5 for children 6 and under who are eating event food.  Mr. Brandt is planning the menu this week and has promised a very enjoyable meal.  I’ll publish this info as soon as I have it.  Be sure to tell all your friends the following (and buy tickets quickly so we can plan to feed everyone):

This is a must-hear event!

On Monday, October 30, the CMS Advanced Band and the CHS Theatre Department will be performing a spooky old-time radio show.  This year’s event will feature a radio retelling of the timeless Edgar Allan Poe classic The Cask of Amontillado. You’ll hear other fun musical performances, as well.  A delicious dinner is served by the CHS Culinary Arts department.

Join us in the CHS cafetorium for this fun audio experience.

Dinner is served at 6:pm
Performance begins at 7:pm
and lasts about 30 minutes.

Tickets are $10
$5 for children 6 and under who are eating.
We are prepared for your specialized dietary needs upon request.

While everyone is welcome, the entertainment fare is targeted to older children and grown-ups.
