Cumberland Bands Newsletter – 11/11/16

Happy Friday, everyone!  Thank you, veterans!

UPDATED! ==Santa Breakfast at CMS/CHS – Saturday, December 3rd==

This is a fundraiser for the band program and we need your help!!!

Santa Claus will be hosting a breakfast in our cafeteria!  There will be food, music, the NJHS Holiday Bazaar, and so much more!  Visit one-on-one with Santa Claus, himself!

How can you help?

1. Bake some holiday-themed cookies for our cookie-by-the-pound sale!
2. Bake a cake for our Fancy Cake raffle!
3. Let us know that you’ll come and help, as there will be lots to do!
4. Can’t show up?  Then donate a little bit: popsicle sticks, craft supplies, cookie dough… we could use a number of little items!

This is going to be a lot of fun, so jump in and join the community of band parents!

==Winter Concert – Thursday, Dec 8th @7pm at CMS/CHS==

The 2016 Winter Concert is Thursday, December 8, at 7:pm in the CMS/CHS cafetorium.  All band classes are participating.  More details to follow.  This is looking like it’s going to be a bigger evening than we originally thought, so be sure to mark your calendars and come join us!

==Christmas Parades!==

12/4/2016 – Farmville Christmas Parade
12/11/2016 – Cumberland Christmas Parade

The marching band will be in both parades on the respective Sunday afternoons listed above.  I have had a number of students who aren’t in marching band ask if they can march the parade.  The answer is a qualified ‘yes’.  We are marching in uniform, so I have to limit it to students who can fit into the uniforms I have left, and every marcher must have completely black shoes for the parade.  If it is not a band marching shoe, then I do need to approve them ahead of time.

Also, to march in the parade, each student must attend parade rehearsal.  There will only be a couple, and I’ll have that schedule out shortly.  We will be performing the same material we performed in last year’s parades.
