NOTES:

  1. There will be no opportunity for food between 11:am and performance time.  Please make sure your child eats a good breakfast.  Dry foods that can’t make a mess are welcome to be eaten on the bus, as well as water, if your child will need something before performance time.  When we arrive, we’ll be just about ready to enter the warm-up cycle.  We will be hitting the concessions stand right after we perform and change.
  2. I recommend you provide your child with about $10 if you would like them to eat at the concessions stand.  Your child is also free to bring packed meals from home should you choose.
  3. We will change out of uniforms after the performance, so please make sure your child brings clothing appropriate for sitting outside for a few hours.
  4. When we return, please allow all children time to put away their uniforms and equipment, as well as quickly tidying up the band room, before we leave for the evening.
  5. I’m sure there’s more to remember, so holler at me if I’m forgetting anything.

Cookie Dough Fundraiser Delivery Date: I do not yet know the delivery date, but I should know by the end of this week, as orders have already been sent in.  It will likely be some time within the first two weeks of November.

Marching Band Shoes: Marching band shoes are now in, and for the winds/percussion they are $37.50.  For the color guard, they are $35.00.

Marching Band – Last Game Day on Friday, November 4!  Tailgating Party – Come Join Us! We will be grilling out by the band room Friday afternoon to feed the marching band kids at 5:pm.  If you would like to join us to have a tailgate party prior to the game, we’d love to have you.  While we’re feeding the band members, please plan to otherwise feed your crew.  The grill will be available for anyone who would like to use it.  It’s the last time around, so be sure to come and let’s have a GREAT end of the season!!!

If you want to help out with the tailgate party, parents can contact Kim Williamson by phone (after 3), text at 804 385 5483 or  email kwilliamson@cucps.k12.va.us.

Yankee Candles!  The band program will be selling Yankee Candles for the Holiday season.  More details to come, but if you want to purchase a Yankee Candle for someone during the season, we’d love for you to buy it from us.  While we will have fliers available to anyone interested, you will primarily be able to purchase online.  Have your gift needs covered and help the band at the same time!

NEW! – Santa Breakfast at CMS/CHS on Saturday, December 3rd!  Santa Claus will be hosting a breakfast in our cafeteria!  There will be food, music, the NJHS Holiday Bazaar, and so much more!  Visit one-on-one with Santa Claus, himself!  Details to follow, but mark calendars now!

Winter Concert! The 2016 Winter Concert is Thursday, December 8, at 7:pm in the CMS/CHS cafetorium.  All band classes are participating.  More details to follow.

Christmas Parades!
12/4/2016 – Farmville Christmas Parade
12/11/2016 – Cumberland Christmas Parade

The marching band will be in both parades on the respective Sunday afternoons listed above.  I have had a number of students who aren’t in marching band ask if they can march the parade.  The answer is a qualified ‘yes’.  We are marching in uniform, so I have to limit it to students who can fit into the uniforms I have left, and every marcher must have completely black shoes for the parade.  If it is not a band marching shoe, then I do need to approve them ahead of time.

Also, to march in the parade, each student must attend parade rehearsal.  There will only be a couple, and I’ll have that schedule out shortly.  We will be performing the same material we performed in last year’s parades.

Keep in touch, y’all!
