Hello Band Folks!

The first week of school has been wonderful.  I’m sorry I haven’t gotten this information out sooner.  I shall work to do better in the future.  Things to know:

New Student Instrument Night

For all band members who need to purchase or lease an instrument, please come join us at CMS on Tuesday, August 16th, at 7:pm in the CMS band room.  Two local vendors will be on site for you.  CCPS does not have any restrictions on where students get their instruments, but we do want to provide a local opportunity for you to talk to vendors directly, as well as getting any advice from the band director.

Marching Band Begins

The 2016 Cumberland MS Marching Band is open to all returning band members and will begin Tuesday, August 16.  Practice will be from 3pm-6pm every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.  Things to know:

1. Students may ride the 6pm activity bus home if they choose. This is the bus that only makes general stops on Rt 45. It does not provide door-to-door service.

2. This year we will be operating a full marching season for the first time for the current students. Because our performances are dependent on every student, please be sure you can commit to the performance schedule below.

3. There will be small expense for consumables related to this season. Depending on the role, students may need to purchase marching gloves, marching shoes, or other sundry items. The total expense would not exceed around $50.

Cumberland Band Boosters

It’s time to begin the process to build a booster program in Cumberland.  Below is a link to the proposed bylaws I would like to consider for the organization.

I would like to have a quick informal meeting (about 15 minutes) of anyone interested in being a band booster on Tuesday, Aug 16^th, at 6:pm – right after marching band practice.
