Cumberland Bands News – 5/12/16

Hello band folks!

Ten days of school left and lots to report.  Check it out:

Afternoon of Percussion – The afternoon of percussion last month was a great success.  We had clinician Neil Landini come in and work with the kids for three hours.  Mr. Landini is a signed artist with Innovative Percussion and Dynasty Percussion.  Awesome learning!

Fundraiser Pickup – The fundraiser products will be here on Tuesday, May 17th.  You may pick up your items between 2:30pm – 4:pm at the Cumberland band room.  Please ensure these products are delivered on this date, as the pizza products are perishable frozen items.

Graduation – The band is playing for graduation on the evening of May 20th, and this is a voluntary event for the band students this year.  We are having one more after-school rehearsal on Wednesday, May 18th @ 3p-6p.  Students may ride the sports activity bus to the centralized stops on Rt 45 or may be picked up at the band room.

On graduation day, the performing students will stay through to graduation.  I will feed them supper.  The event starts @ 7:pm.  Details regarding estimated completion time TBA.  All students participating will need to be picked up at the band room (or taken with you if you are present for the event).

Marching Band Mini-Camp/Color Guard Auditions – Awesome times!  More pics and info to come about the 2016 marching band!

May 24th promotion ceremony – The band program is NOT going to participate in this event.  This is a change.

Band Boosters – To those of you who expressed interest, your message was received and I’m going to be in touch soon.  If anyone else is interested in supporting the band program through a booster organization, then let me know asap.  I’m going to be forming an initial executive board in the next few weeks and begin moving forward with bylaws.

It’s an exciting time to get involved with the band program in Cumberland!

As always, keep in touch!
